One cycling class changed their lives forever. Kim and David met on June 19th, 2021 at a Pride Ride event. Kim's best friend had been pushing her to meet this guy with a big white truck and a little mini schnauzer named Hardy, who he took everywhere. She noticed a man in the front row but immediately assumed he swung for the other team, considering his pride inspired outfit choice (short jorts and a rainbow tank top).
Being as forgetful as she is, Kim lost her car keys right after class and that same man found them. It started with texts, phone calls, a spontaneous trip to the Virgin Islands to meet his family, and a covid quarantine all in under one month of knowing each other that really sealed the deal.
Kim had always wanted to get married in Vietnam, where she was born and where half of her family still resides. After a trip there together in 2023, David knew he wanted the same thing.
And now they get to invite you all to immerse yourself in this country that they (and Anthony Bourdain) loves so dearly. Its a country so rich in history and yet so young in independence. They're so excited to introduce you to the people of Vietnam, who have just celebrated 50 years of being a unified country. They can't wait for your to experience the food, the flavors, the outdoor stalls where recipes have been passed down through generations. They're relishing in sharing the culture of Vietnam with you, the motorbikes, the wild traffic that somehow flows, and the stories of war and redemption. Vietnam was burned to the ground and yet found a way to rebuild and prosper. If you know the couple well, you know it resembles Kim and David's story to the core.
